The day is today, Woo is announcing the timetable for the release of an important update that enhances and expands how interacts with Woo Marketplace extensions or themes you may have added to the Woo marketplace.

The new extension, called it's called the Woo.com Update Manager is a way to connect Woo Marketplace extensions and themes that you use on your store to our servers to ensure they're always up to date. It will be a required, free installation for every Woo stores running any officially-licensed Woo Marketplace extension or theme. The next couple of hours, Woo store owners with an active Woo Marketplace subscription will get additional information regarding this extension ahead of its release with Version 8.8 scheduled for April 9th and 2024..

 What do I need to do to install the Woo.com Update Manager?

Following the launch of 8.8 (scheduled for April 9, 2024), if you have an active subscription to Woo Marketplace, or have an active subscription from Woo Marketplace, you should be able to see a notice or banner in your dashboard (similar like the one shown below) that will direct you to the appropriate page to download the Woo.com Update Manager. There will be other notices on this page:

If you do not have an installed Woo.com Update Manager installed, and you attempt to download a Woo Marketplace extensions or themes, you'll be automatically asked to download and install the Update Manager at the same time.

 What exactly is the Woo.com Update Manager?

The Woo.com Update Manager is an extension which manages updates to products and provides support to your themes and extensions purchased through the Woo Marketplace.

Over time and time, the Woo.com Update Manager will include additional ways of installing bought themes and extensions in more clicks. This makes it easier to build updates, upgrade, or add new functions for your stores.

 Will Woo.com Update Manager Woo.com Update Manager alter my store in some way?

After installing the Woo.com Update Manager program, there is nothing that affects your store's functionality should change.

 Do all Woo stores require the Woo.com Update Manager?

Woo.com Update Manager is needed to provide automattic updates to themes and extensions or modify your themes and themes in WordPress. This does not mean the Woo.com Update Manager tracks the latest information or makes it available to users; rather, it's moving details and data from your Woo Marketplace extensions centrally to the Woo.com Update Manager, and later onto Woo's servers.

It is the Woo.com Update Manager is needed to provide automatic updates to themes and extensions or to be able to upgrade your themes and extensions manually and themes within WordPress.
Stores are not required to use using the Woo.com update Manager plugin to upgrade themes or extensions, which can be completed by downloading the .zip file from Woo.com then connecting the theme or extension to your store, then manually updating the extension or theme from WordPress's WordPress dashboard.
