Triathlete's path to knowledge business begins with classes and the coaching of a member-based community

Apr 28, 2022

A doctorate degree in the field of exercise and physiological science, doing peer-reviewed research, in addition to coaching Olympians as well as professional Ironman athletes isn't enough to impress The Dr. Dan Plews. Also, he's an avid triathlete and the currently Ironman Age Group World Championship Course Record record holder for the winning athlete, who ran a time of 8:24.36. After his win, along with the vast knowledge about the subject, he could answer numerous questions - especially surrounding the lower carbohydrates diet, and the best method to apply it to long distance triathlons.
So, it's how the Dr. Plews decided to monetize his expertise by launching EndureIQ along with adding "knowledge creator" as one of his jobs. We'll take a look back at his journey.

Interviews were lightly edited to ensure clarity.

The training quickly led to courses

At the start the The Dr. Plews started out with the method of coaching which is clear. He. Plews noted that there was a certain amount of work that he could achieve during one-on one sessions.

In the year 2019, Endure IQ was founded. "I have so many questions that I decided to make the course on the internet. In the beginning, I thought, "Oh, you could build an easy white-board course and posted on PowerPoint'. Following a conversation with one of my friends who had said "Well If you're going to create this type of course, you might consider doing this as a legitimate job.'"

Four core courses along with other mini-courses. Dr. Plews declares, "Our courses are 10 modules of length, and require about 10-15 hours to instruct. The students have access to our classes to the classes for ten or 12 months. Additionally, they are able to talk to the instructor." The courses are recognized by organizations such as those of the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Triathlon.

Classes begin

EndureIQ has released a glimpse of their course LDT One-on-One. "We announced that we'd limit 50 participants initially who signed up. It went on sale in just thirty minutes." The item was gone in just 3 seconds.. Plews recalls.

The courses were extremely popular! However, the response was massive. Professor. Plews quickly discovered that the students wanted to continue to access the material as well as to the webinars led by the instructors following completion of the class.

He was faced with the dilemma of having to keep supporting the organization. The following is his thoughts about this topic:

"I wanted to avoid having this class on my books for quite some time since students were able to continue asking questions all during the time you're in middle of a call for but that's not the way education works. When you're an undergraduate student who is enrolled in the course you're registered for as a student, you have the right to speak to the expert, your teachers  for this period However, you won't have the privilege of having you get answers to your questions during your entire life."

Meeting customer demand and generating revenues

Then , Dr. Plews discovered a way to satisfy the demands of clients while also generating regular revenue using the same course materials. His solution: a $5 per week cost to have access to the material as well as webinars after the students have completed their class.

"I joined this account swiftly. It's a great choice because the number of customers are returning," He elaborates.

It costs $5 per week for the privilege to take advantage of every class students took to accrue loyalty points students who have taken several courses. Dan stated that there was 175 people who were members of the group as of our interview. Thus, he is in a position to earn a significant quantity of money every week simply by giving access to the class and responding to questions.

Subscription revenue opens doors

It now generates extra income. Additionally, it opens new possibilities for the business.

Professor. Plews says, "The greatest benefit of a subscription-based business is the fact that it allows businesses to make more educated decisions. If you are assured that you will earn more revenue and you're more mindful of whom you're putting in place and how you're putting your money into because there's lower chance of losing money. But, if you're percent dependent on sales, you can are never sure of which month will be the best."

The author also pointed out having an active online community comes with another advantage - it provides him with an audience people who he can ask to learn more what they feel about new courses and other opinions.

However, Dan is realistic about the needs to maintain an active group of members. "The disadvantages are that they're constantly on," he says, "There are a lot of customer support that is provided as part of the subscription because members frequently ask questions."
