The Journey of the Online Course Creator Part 1. Beginning with Concept and transforming into a Digital
In every conversation I've been asking them the top advice for those trying to achieve success in the world of digital-based entrepreneurial.
In reality, each of the person who has designed a course to earn top wages has the same outlook.
- They insist that "done is superior to perfection They're not at risk of thinking too much about their process of creativity.
- The people who create these courses are coming from a position of being completely enthralled by the work they're making. A lot of them say they'd be willing to do what they're doing at no cost because they enjoy this very much.
- Participants will be encouraged to explore their idea and to enhance their presentation and content once they have received feedback from the initial group of students.
After meeting with a variety of talented creators who make a livelihoods from their hobbies, I became immersed in the world of online courses. As with many novice online course creators, I felt a little nervous about designing courses. There were many questions about myself that caused me to be caught in a cycle of negativity, such as what if I fail? Is it a problem when there is no sign-up for my class? What should I find out about how I can use the most recent technologies? If no one takes my advice seriously? and even more... how is I going to be? expert in designing online courses?
Yet, I was cognizant of what I intended to convey and I was able to clearly define my objectives for the impact I wanted to make. Much like the many artists I have met, who found satisfaction by monetizing their talent, the subject I wanted to teach seemed to be very real to me. Writing!
My experience as a teacher
The need to write born when I was a kid. From the time I started learning to write I was always carrying a pen or notebook, engaged in stories and poems, writing stories as well as a variety of other creative work.
It wasn't until I was in my 20s when I began writing again to help me with managing my own health and wellbeing in addition to ways to express myself creatively. When I was experiencing joy or sadness, heartbreak or stress, I would write in order to convey my own memories. To gain more understanding of my own thoughts. Additionally, I want to release the burdens of life on the page.
Naturally, my love of writing led me to developing an online company for writers who write content at the age of mid-twenties as well as two publications that include Liquid State Poetry collection and All Of You Is Welcome Here that is a guidebook designed for children. While I was apprehensive about creating an online course but I believed that my experience and experience with writing has given me the confidence in my ability to aid others.
It wasn't my intention to impart lessons about grammar and spelling (that issue is vital, however that's not my focus). The conclusion of the day, I wanted to teach the people to use writing as a way to channel creativity and a therapeutic tool in order to share my own personal experiences.
My power is in my control
In June 2022, I was struck by the notion of my course of four weeks My Inner Writer I am struck with the idea of.
Through recorded lessons, and guided writing exercises Through written lessons that are recorded as well as guided exercises I will help students to strengthen their connection to their imagination, access the storyteller within, and share their writing with me in order to get constructive feedback and to enhance their writing.
When the self-doubt, fear-driven thoughts were running through my head, I thought that the fact that people are able to develop and market online courses, then surely I could also; from my experience that the most unforgettable events that I have experienced happen anytime I'm feeling uneasy. test the boundaries, and venture into uncharted terrain with the assurance that I have my back. I was convinced that the result of a failed online course launch might be fatal or death. So why not move up to the next stage? I chose to recognize my full potential and share my skills to those around me.
It turns out that those successful course creators were correct If you're sharing the things that you are passionate about, which can be helpful to others , your course's success is bound to occur.
The course was part of my business as a freelancer of content and heart and also my heart. However, I had no thought that anyone would be capable of recognizing its worth. Unsurprised, I was right I had intended to have 10 people purchase my course but , I managed to get 22 students.
Here's how I accomplished this:
1. I formulated a course of action to follow for the class.
After deciding that I wanted to do it , after making the decision to do the task, I opened up my Google Doc and brain-dumped all of my ideas for an online course. I tried to release my analytical mind while doing this however, I instead concentrated in jotting down items I planned to present to students.
The following day I came back to my Google Doc with a fresh eyes. I went through my initial concepts, came up with an overall concept, removed anything which did not fit the notion and organized all of it into four parts to form the weekly four-part class.
Re-examining my thinking also led me to identify the title of this course, something I had been thinking and pondering about. My personal preference was Your Inner Writer felt like it was a perfect description of the class that I taught. I am convinced everyone has a voice and can unleash the power of telling stories. All we need to do is to turn your focus to the inner of you and find your own inner artist.
2. I made a landing page
When my course outline was drawn out, I adhered to the guidelines I received from others who created the course. Avoid overthinking the job.
I logged into the course builder , and created my landing page with drag-and drop tools that are simple to use. I included a headline that attracts attention as well as an organized list of things they'd learn about throughout the course. I also included the timer that indicates that enrollment is closing for an urgency feel, and photos that were in line with my branding for a visual contrast to the text. The landing page didn't have any brand new images to create this landing page. The images I used were taken from my site and social media.
I took care not to create a lengthy website's landing page. The temptation to be perfect could cause me to alter my layout frequently. The landing page is usable in its own right, and is also acceptable. Then I clicked 'publish' followed by linking the landing page on my website and in the bio on my Instagram. Instagram bio.
3. I chose a fair price
The next step was to determine the cost of my course. The course was set at $29.99 in CAD , which was based on two reasons:
- My belief is that education is a right that should be available to everyone. The cost of my course was affordable and placed it in the reach of the most people who could possibly.
- It was the first time that I taught a class in which I was able to test my concept. My idea was to gather the opinions from the students who attended the class, and then revise the course in the hope of improving it following which I would increase the price, while making the course accessible to the largest quantity of students.
- The cost was reasonable enough that it was simple to purchase. The $29.99 price was an ideal choice for people who were unsure whether they were part of the adventure as well as allowing a greater quantity of guests to pass through the doors.
- Making my course affordable was an effective way of keeping the demands of students to a set price. It was beneficial, considering that I didn't want to get less confident when I was creating my first online product.
- Because the cost was very low, it means I was able to make one-time payment and that's what I'd like to pay to get a payment plan.
4. The course is available for purchase in advance
I had planned to advertise my course prior to having produced content for it.
After having created the landing page, and selecting the best cost, I then made the course to be pre-ordered. Pre-ordering the course ensured that students would have access to the course material from the very beginning of the class, which was on July 6.
I decided to buy the course in order that I could evaluate my ideas in the process; if I created the course in the in the middle of the night the next day, no one bought my course, it was unproductive. In addition, seeing those who purchased my course will help me tailor my course to meet their specific needs in the course before recording every class.
5. I gave my lecture on social media
The landing page I had designed was completed as was the training course available for purchase. The right moment was to make it public.
As an introvert during the process of creating online courses was one of the toughest. The self-doubting thoughts I imagined at the time I was first introduced to the concept to create Your Inner Writer reared their heads again. As I was certain of my writing and the effect I wanted to make I was able to conquer my fears and move towards the next step.
It was helpful for me to remember the fact that I started this program in order to assist others. It wasn't just about my own personal growth but rather, it was about what I could contribute to the community. It became easier to show through social media, with knowing that each time I made a post I'd have an chance to assist others in connecting more deeply to their artistic aspect.
I was an Instagram follower along with an email address that I had accumulated through my business and two publications. I published a post about this course via my Instagram account for three weeks in advance of the date of its start. I used mainly Instagram stories to promote the course, in addition to posting the URL for the landing page directly on each post in order to let customers buy the course. I published one article each for 3 weeks via my blog. however, I saw greater engagement when I made use of Instagram stories.
In addition to promoting my course via Instagram and Twitter In addition, I shared the course on my email list, along with an enclave of individuals. While I did turn some of my email subscribers into customers, the vast majority of my customers can be found on Instagram.
6. I used Drip Schedule feature. Drip Schedule feature
Though I initially was using the Free Plan, I opted to upgrade the monthly Basic plan so that I would be able to use Drip Schedule. The Drip Schedule option.
I was interested in using this feature so that my content was accessible each week, not in one go. It was beneficial to me in not overloading my students with 4 weeks of information in one session. The idea of providing a week's worth content at a time also helped create tension and anticipation in every week's lesson and for written practice that was guided. It was also helpful using the Drip Schedule feature. It helped enable me to remain in contact with my students, as my goal was to send students emails each week in order to let them know they could access the material.
7. I composed the first couple of weeks' of content
Instead of writing out the whole material of the course before launch , I decided to write material to be used in small pieces.
This not only helped me control my workload and reduce burnout, it also allowed me to take in the opinions of my students and to ask them questions throughout the course in order to tailor my teaching to meet the requirements of each pupil.
The procedure I followed to develop content was simple It was simple to follow: I created a powerpoint PowerPoint presentation, which I then made use of to illustrate every lesson. I also wrote a practice using Canva it is a cost-free program for creating designs. Then, I utilized Loom the platform used for video chat to present the slides, and then communicate with my students.
Before I even started my course I was prepared with everything I required for two weeks. To me, it was obvious that I'd be more flexible and receptive to students when they were creating the content. The first two weeks of video content allowed me to understand the requirements of my students throughout weeks three , four. This was harder than putting in too much effort upfront , and then having to create a fresh series of videos in case I had to alter or alter my plans.
As I composed the content , and redesigning the content, I tried not to allow perfectionists to go to the back of the line. As it was my first time, I had to relax during the entire course.
8. I hit publish!
The most exciting part of the entire process. One day prior to the release of Your Inner Writer, I clicked "Publish!
... After that I went straight to open champagne and revel in the small moment that was extremely important to me.
Prior to clicking "publish," I went through the content in the first week, which included welcome videos, a pre-recorded lesson, and writing exercises that was led. In order to ensure that the information was correct I also wrote under every video an outline in order to outline the lesson I taught and checked that there wasn't any material left as a draft.' It was also my responsibility to view a draft of the lesson as the student would.
I decided to start the course a day before so that I could ensure that the class worked in a way which was effective. The same day, I sent out an email to my students that introduced them to the first week of class and gave an overview of the things they'd learn. The message was set for the day of the release, which was which took place on July 6.
When my class is done going through the motions of going live, I'm thrilled that I heard my own inner voice and found ideas that will benefit other students. I'm thrilled to share my writing passion with others who are eager to discover the therapeutic advantages from writing.
