"I was drawn to this business due to my spouse Alejandro and the other part of Magicoders is that we collaborate in all our projects with each other," starts Tamara, co-founder of Magicoders. Alejandro was pursuing his dream job at Siemens, a German tech firm, and made it to the regional director of Latin America, but he wanted to change. "Corporate career was not the right fit suitable for him. He was a shrew in the dark and absorbed the expertise had been developed by Siemens for the past 20 years." she continues.

"We started our own company, working remotely - in the days before you needed to explain the concept!" she smiles. "After the outbreak, nearly everyone is aware however, we've been in business for over fifteen years."

Tamara and Alejandro are providing WordPress development services, even at a time when it wasn't widely used. They started working with platforms that linked freelancers to clients. The first platform they collaborated with was Elancer then as they picked the experience they gained and demonstrated their value, they moved to more premium platforms, including Codeable.

"I was doing the selling and project management, and then began to develop slowly, until the point where we now each work on development," she adds. It was, however, far from the latest version of Magicoders. "We were dreaming of working from Uruguay as well as from Argentina and even from places where there are family and friends from Brazil, just having an internet connection. We had decided this was the thing we'd like to do, and continued to do it until we had become full-time freelancers" She recalls.

Products, services and work examples

Magicoders concentrate on WordPress as well as membership sites however, they offer "pretty all the things in between including full-site build to specific projects" She says. The area where they excel is with complex and multifaceted projects, which have multiple moving parts.

"Plugins require communication with each other. If something happens in one plugin happens, it is expected that something else in the plugin will occur, however this may not be the case in all cases. Our job is to identify the bridges and the connections between them." Tamara explains. "We can help connect it all."

Magicoders build "mini-systems" connecting different components together. The bigger a site becomes larger, the greater number of plugins you have and the greater number of moving parts that need to speak to each other. It is inevitable that this could cause problems.

Tamara's developer profile on Toptal

"WordPress development differs from other systems where a single company is responsible for all components. Within WordPress every plugin could be designed by a distinct company so, of course there is a gap between the links. We work out how we can customize them and make them perform what they are supposed to accomplish."

"We're developing a membership site in the present time, which is connected to a social network plugin. Our customer needs to only permit certain features if you are a subscriber, but BuddyBoss is not an option for membership. It is our policy to ensure that you be able to access certain functions if you've an active subscription. We developed a backend system for users to be able to see the subscriber list as well as features allowing them to unsubscribe people," Tamara continues.

Magicoders Magicoders work with Elasticsearch specifically for massive websites, in addition to API integrations. If you have an existing WordPress website, and also an email list, each time people become active subscribers is a chance to forward that information into the CRM.

"We have a client of ours who is a podcaster who has hired us to customize the way how Podcast RSS feed presents the content of the title and the description dynamically, according to who the subscriber is," she says. If you're an active subscriber, you can see protected content and if you're not, you can't. However, in this instance Magicoders are required to secure the content available to every user in certain scenarios, and allow all users access to protected content under particular situations. "We're there, creating membership websites in particular ways," she sums up.

We are of the opinion that certain membership-based plugins within the WordPress ecosystem are excellent they are usually free but they don't have that ability to be customized and to continue to communicate with other plugins. "This is where Magicoders can help! As well as WooCommerce, membership-based websites are our specialty," she smiles.

Another example would be an AndroidIntel.net customer AndroidIntel.net who had a specific requirement: every time users signed up, a counter would start noting the amount of time to each person who accessed certain features. Magicoders created a dynamic map of those journeys: "She had built this design of a roadmap with different icons and colors, which we then realised the vision that she believed in."

The future of Magicoders

"We have a very nice planned project coming up, which is for a large membership website. They're having trouble keeping up with the activity in their server so we'll use an external SaaS service (in this case ) to offload a lot of the interactions that would have happened in the WordPress server, and eliminate the issue." Tamara and Alejando will also be moving their client's podcast to an exclusive feed in order that the media business will be able to monetize a premium podcast.

Alejandro's profile as a developer on Codeable

Tamara and Alejando are working with Codeable for eight years now and have completed over 1450 projects with an impressive score of 4.99. "We have an impressive review history from our customers there - and it gives an idea of what we are about. We're very interested in paying attention to our clients and their needs. We also think creatively and take pride in dealing with different problems and being able to identify a simple path forward," she adds.

We agree that, when there are so many moving parts of a task If you're not cautious, you can make it even more complicated. "Actually, what you should be doing is reducing it back down and making the process easy for the person who is buying it," she concludes with a smile.
