"Let's begin with the words that most accurately describe me: strong as well as expressive, and rich."

What was the process of transferring your architectural designs to mixed-media drawings?

"When the time came to decide on a career I was advised, like many others, not to pursue a career in arts. And I listened. Then I graduated with a Bachelor and Master degree in Architecture and being utterly dissatisfied with my work front of the computer. Then , during my gap year following university, I began making illustrations, drawings and other products that featured my design on them which made me feel happier!

All of it started right when I was offered a position in an architecture office, which I currently manage with my illustration business and recent studies in art and history. I'm hoping that I can quit the corporate architecture job in the near future and focus fully on the art I love as well as using mixed-media methods.

I'm hoping my tale will aid people who are undecided about which subject to pursue to understand that the degree in art isn't important. You could be an artist from every background. And the most important aspect is that it will make your art more unique. Naturally, attending an art school is a wonderful learning experience too!"

What would you say about your style of illustration?

"I consider that the process of describing your style is a difficult task. I asked my buddies about this and their descriptions of it could not be more exact. The way they described my work is like everything I paint is in movement like the wind is blowing across the painting and dropping color on everything it touches. I could not have a better description of the effect honestly.

I love layering textures as well as playing with lots of shades, and I'm a maximalist in that sense. The more difficult I attempt to restrict a color palette and the more expansive the color range gets.

In a glance at some of my topic choices, my favorite things to draw are landscapes that feature mountains and oceans since it is a reminder of my childhood home in Tenerife, a quaint little island situated in the Atlantic ocean.

However, I also create human-like characters with over-the-top features and vibrant skin. And of the course, I include any architectural aspect - "the 6 years of architecture studies have to show up somewhere."

What's the secret for creating mixed-media artwork?

"I think that the most important thing for me to create my work is not planning ahead too much. It's fair to say that this technique sometimes works but it can also fail however, not worrying too much about the outcome really gives you the freedom to explore your art.

I like seeing how I color and painting , and of changing my mind when I finish my work. This shows the relationship I have with the paper, my surroundings, as well as to my paint and you can trace my decision-making process on the final product.

I love being able to work with my hands to mix my own paints. All you require to create my art is a lot of various materials (doesn't have to be extravagant, however I enjoy mixing mediums), a very loose hand, and the courage to apply paint layers and begin with a blank canvas."
