Minimalist collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog

In the afternoon of Sunday, I caught Olga sharing Instagram posts about my neighborhood from childhood. In the middle of Warsaw's concrete jungle is a less-known and sacred green area. I used to go there in summer time to gaze at gorgeous old pines and catch a breath of the natural world within my urban lung. In her story, Olga visited this area in her first visit, but she also got mesmerized by one of the oldest gardens in Warsaw. And I bet that soon she'll create a Boernerowo inspired painting.

We inquired with Olga about the key to creating her minimalist collages and painting of landscapes that are human-shaped.

"My name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. Since the age of a kid, I've been painting and drawing numerous times. I went to an art high school and was a student of Painting and Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.

I'm a painter, illustrator as well as a graphic designer. Through my work, I focus on the relationship between humans and nature, closely observing how we shape our backyards. When I look at hedges that have been trimmed, decorative plants, and meticulously designed home gardens I'm trying to capture the eerie nature of our immediate surroundings."

"For some time, I've created simple collages. The collages are in the form of landscapes and still life, or are created as a result of explorations with textures, shapes, and colours.

My work is diverse since collage and painting differ in many ways, however they share one thing in common: they are soothing. I have heard this term from my audience many times I believe it best describes the nature of my art. When I'm tired of painting, I make collages, and vice versa. One style is a temporary getaway from the different.

I believe that being aware is essential. I am attentive to all I see, including nature, architecture, and objects. This is evident in my art. In my works, you are not able to see the human being, but we can feel the sense of humans in the hedges that are trimmed or in a mug that is left in the kitchen table."
