Background of this Blueprint

A few months ago I was having a conversation with an old acquaintance and colleague. He was discussing his most recent project and I was amazed.

My friend was the one who had built the largest, most active group of people who were devoted to the popular film, Dune. I was impressed - and keen to provide ideas.

The conversation soon turned into content strategy, intelligent monetization, and web promotion.

  1. A blog
  2. Social media streams embedded into the embed
  3. Videos
  4. Review of Toys
  5. Game review
  6. A podcast

What really stood out to me was the podcast. Since I work in the field , I realized this would be a great use of the case to showcase the capabilities that our plug-in has!

So, Garin and Marcus, this podcasting blueprint is ideal for all of you.

However, for everyone else, keep to me. What I'm about to show Garin and Marcus can be easily applied to many other websites designed around a group of niche enthusiasts.

It also applies to:

  1. Existing podcasters who are looking for ways to earn income without advertising
  2. Content producerswho would like to include a podcasting revenue stream to the mix
  3. Websites that are members seeking to add value to existing members

So, if you want to learn how to make money off your podcast using WordPress, let's get directly to the process.

These are the tools you'll Be Needing to Earn Money From Your Podcast

Like any good blueprint There are instruments that can make the task easier. And those tools should be durable and flexible.

As a result, I curated the following list of equipment with care for this list. In the next section, I'll discuss some of the main reasons why you'll want to add them to your arsenal.

I'm guessing that some of you are considering:

However, that's not the case. There is no connection to any tool in this blueprint. We have no financial motivation for recommending these solutions:

  1. WordPressis the world's most popular content management system
  2. was designed to allow seven-figure designers to create recurring revenue
  3. Really Simple Podcasting A free plugin that allows you to embed podcasts into WordPress
  4. Castos - Our recommended private podcast host to use for this project. More on that later

That's it. By using these tools, your podcast can be up, running, and earning recurring income from paid subscribers quickly. It sounds great, doesn't it?

We're ready to build your Money-Making Podcast

This is where the fun begins.

Because I'm using a buddy's Dune news site for an example, I know they already utilize WordPress as their Content Management System (CMS). (Garin, thumbs up!)

If you're still not on WordPress but, don't be concerned about it. It's a breeze today. It's not necessary to learn anything about web development, or even code.

There are a myriad of guides on how to get started with WordPress however we strongly recommend this guide from WPBeginner:

The Garin use of the case and how you can monetize your podcast with WordPress...

It's already here. Just go select a plan and join to .

I would suggest you go with the Plus plan, but Pro will work as well. This tab will be open for you to check later and finish the setup.

If you're already a client (aw thanks, we love your too!) it's possible to skip step two.

The configuration is fairly simple, and the plugin will guide you through the procedure clear. At a high level, you'll need to configure these three things to be configured in .

In the beginning, include a payment option. I recommend using Stripe, but you have some options.

Next, add the membership. This will be the level of membership you'll need to gain access to your podcast. Step 3 is below.

Step 2 - Sign up for an account on Castos.com

The Starter or Growth plan will work well for this setup. Be sure to pay at the limit of subscribers on each plan level to ensure you have enough room.

If, for instance, you're one of one of the creators of the popular True Crime podcast Only Murders in the Building, then you'll likely want to inquire about an Castos Premium membership.

This action is necessary to make your podcast private. Once you've set up your account with castos.com, you'll head back to your WordPress site to finish up there.

Step 3: Download and Activate Seriously Simple Podcasting

Once your Castos and accounts have been set up, you're ready to create your own private podcast, and then connect the podcast to your subscription.

With Really Simple Podcasting you'll be able to sync to your Castos account, and create your podcast, and then join it.

In the first place, log into your Podcastingsettings then connect Really Simple Podcasting to your Castos account with your email address and API key.

Following, start the brand new podcast. This is the example I'm going to call mine Premium Podcast. It's a fake, in fact. It's not a podcast by that name. So, don't bother trying to find it . Instead, subscribe to it.

In The All Podcasts view, click on edit Feed Information to update the relevant feed information , and then upload the cover photo.

Go back onto your Castos account and you should see your newly created podcast. Under the options for Distribution, set it to private.

This is where the magic occurs. But first, there's just one more configuration to take. For that, you'll return to your WordPress website.

In your WordPress admin area, go to PodcastingSettings. settings. In you will find the Integrationstab, you'll just check the box that allows you to activate this integration.

Why Recommends Castos

We looked at a variety of options that could help people monetize their podcast through WordPress. Ultimately, the Castos integration made the most sense.

Here's why...

It is designed for 6- and 7-figure entrepreneurs. The license model is designed for scaling with unlimited memberships, members and revenues! However, most important, the license model is an fixed annual cost. You'll see why that's important in a moment.

Castos is also built to Scale

We were excited to learn that Castos decided to integrate with WordPress, as it's an extremely robust platform that can scale well with WordPress. It also is scalable exceptionally effectivelyfor our customers with hundreds or thousands of members.

Like the Castos licensing model is a fixed cost.

The other private podcasting solutions usually require a monthly revenue cut as high as 12-30 percent. After doing the math, we found that the price doesn't fit well for serious podcasters.

Let's say for instance, that you had 100 podcast users who paid the rate of $15 monthly. The cost could be up to $450 in monthly fees for platforms. It is likely that it is impossible to increase the number of subscribers from 100 to 500 or 1,000 customers.

Castos excels at the private broadcasting and leave the monetization decisions up to the podcast's creator. This means that the platform doesn't have access to the revenue streams of your podcast and won't get a share of your profits.

Furthermore, Castos has a stable, reliable, and wildly well-known WordPress connection option, using the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin. This makes it effortless to link your WordPress memberships to your Castos personal podcast.

Monetize Podcasts on Any Player

The best part is that paid subscribers can listen to your podcast through their preferred application or player. Therefore, regardless of the player you publish your podcast on, you can make income from paid subscriptions to podcasts.

Also, for my good colleagues Garin and Marcus at DuneNewsNet the possibility of offering an ad-free private podcast to loyal fans and community members is currently a real possibility on the WordPress web site.

If you are able to relate to my Dune acquaintances, do not hesitate. Sign up for and Castos now.
