In the year 2019, in search of an innovative way to control her Type 1 diabetes, Sam and her husband decided to introduce Korey to their family. Korey was still a puppy at the time however their intention was to teach Korey to become a Diabetic Alert Dog, a kind of service dog trained to recognize and notify the owner of spikes and dips of blood sugar.

When she and Korey began to work in a special trainer's office to aid in helping Korey grow up into the life-saving Diabetic Alert Dog that Sam needed the love of dogs that Sam had for years transformed into a business idea. "Seeing the amazing things that Korey could learn to do, it sparked my dream of becoming a dog trainer--which was the catalyst for the founding of Korey The Kanine."

Today, Korey the Kanine offers a variety of puppy training courses for both dogs and puppies. They also offer popular programs for Diabetic Alert Dog training.
