The family is a creative one for the illustrator and artist Kentaro Yoshida. His mother, too an artist, has been an important influencer in his work, even when she was not entirely happy of his professional choices. "First she was not a fan of me being a full-time artist. She probably knew that it was difficult due to her experiences. But I gave it a try and fortunately, survived," Kentaro says. "She is certainly the greatest motivation to me."

Kentaro grew up in the village of a fishing family in Toyama, Japan, but was able to move to Australia when he was 18 years old, and is now a resident of Sydney. Since then, he's built a successful professional freelance business as an artist, selling prints, custom painting surfboards and murals, and collaborating with major brands and musicians.

Find out how Kentaro created his distinctive aesthetic, and also how his website has grown with him over the last decade, to help support his artistic career and express his personality.
