The year before, the organization held its inaugural Australian Make It Awards for Australian entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs who are small-scale. The Make It Awards come from the start of 2003, when the president Anthony Casalena founded the company with a loan of $30,000 that was used for the purchase of the first servers.

With the Make It Awards, we're offering a donation to our Australian business community by providing three companies with the opportunity to receive a grant of $30,000 that will help further their goals. The winners of the awards were selected out of more than 2,500 applications that were judged on their business strategies, innovativeness, value for the community and the branding and design. Meet Reef Design Lab, Lousy Ink, and The Difference Three businesses with a mission that do sustainable and community-focused projects.

Reef Design Lab

Their designs aid in research on methods to restore and sustain the biodiversity of the marine and coastal habitats. Reef Design Lab works with architects, builders researchers, and the government and works with marine researchers in a variety of areas including ecological engineering and the protection of coastal areas, maritime infrastructure, in addition to coral farm.

Reef Design Lab plans to use its grant to upgrade the equipment in its lab, and speed up product creation processes.

Lousy Ink plans to use the grant money to develop an assortment of colors for inks that include cyan, yellow magenta, as well as black.

The distinction

The Difference was the first mobile application available in Australia that lets users collect the virtual cash they earn through transactions and donate it away to causes that they're enthusiastic about. The Difference utilizes technology that lets anyone become an active participant in sustainability by daily actions as well as microdonations.

The Difference will use it to improve the range of technical assistance it provides as well as to support with the Make Change campaign.
