We're incredibly satisfied with our 20 years' experience of providing the opportunity for business owners of every size and potential around the globe to get noticed and achieve. Marcy Lab School Marcy Lab School is an independent school which is non-profit and not for profit that is located within Brooklyn, New York, with the aim of providing students with the best quality postsecondary and tertiary training for kids who may not have the opportunity to secure lucrative career opportunities in the area of technology.

This is why we decided to make the gift of $100,000 to the Marcy Lab School as a component of our pledge to 2020, to help groups with ending racial disparities.

We spoke with the Executive Director of Marcy Lab School Reuben Ogbonna II, about how the school has been successful in providing Fellows with an opportunity to enhance their abilities in order to allow them to participate in any field of technology, without having a qualification.

: Marcy Lab is a relatively new organization, so why did you decide to start the non-profit?

Reuben Ogbonna II: After spending 14 years serving students of color--along with my co-founder Maya Bhattacharjee-Marcantonio--in the charter and public school systems, we repeatedly watched as our former students with limitless potential slipped through the cracks of higher education. One of the aspects that isn't widely discussed concerning the colleges of America is the fact that every year thousands of eager and hardworking students get accepted to the school they've always wanted to go to but don't have the financial means to stay until. We were stunned by the low rate of achievement in "college promises" which left college students in our country as well as their families with life-changing costs and unsolvable problems.

The year was 2019, and we partnered to establish and manage Marcy Lab out of the conviction that all children that identify as black and the majority of youngsters who identify as black, should be given an opportunity to gain the same level of justice and equity as those who had the same choices and options provided to those attending a 4-year university. Marcy Lab School Marcy Lab School is a viable alternative for postsecondary education that is being reinvented in line to our original goal to provide a lifetime choice and economic freedom to those who are interested in careers in the ever-changing technology industry.

SQSP can be described as a means of returning to school for kids. Why is it important for you to find out the fact that Marcy Lab offers this path for a fresh start?

ROThe problems I witnessed my students face first-hand were among the most significant issues encountered by minority students. communities. There was no doubt that postsecondary institutions in our country did not meet the standards of the colleges that most students desire in terms of support, community and assistance as well as their academic excellence and the ability to land not only a job but a career. This is the intentional mixture of these factors that form the basis of Marcy Lab and are some fundamental elements that give students the opportunity to follow a career path which isn't the typical one.

For us to fulfill a commitment made in the near future, make sure that our Fellows will be able to work at their job following the twelve months of our program competent, prepared, and able to function as part of teams able to move swiftly and support your business right from the beginning. The Fellows acquire technical knowledge following a specific, thorough course that is versatile and adaptable to the changing requirements of the tech industry. Apart from acquiring the necessary tech skills our Fellows also get involved with taking part in their Leadership & Development curriculum, which is focused on race and gender in the context of personal growth as well as financial literacy. This curriculum contains books written by well-known authors, such as James Baldwin, Michelle Alexander, Safiya Umoja Noble, and Dr. Beverly Tatum.

We're very pleased to report the fact that Marcy Lab School graduates are seeking employment and securing their ideal jobs at wages previously only available to four-year colleges with a greater degree of competition. Two outcomes in addition to our students and their families getting the opportunity to work at positions that offer security, financial security and financially safe, this shows that employers have drastically modified their ways of hiring in order to draw and retain those who don't belong to the traditional classifications.

SQSP: Can you share with us about the impact that you've witnessed in the course of Marcy Lab School have on those who are students at the school?

ROEven after 5 years working on this field and witnessing the results we've forgotten the thrill that it brings to watch the talents of our present employees working at positions paying an average annual salary of $188,000 from those between 19, 20, and employed by some of the most famous and successful businesses around the globe with no need for the cost of debt incurred from credit cards. The young talent is employed by a variety of firms including The New York Times, JPMorgan, Cockroach Labs, Spotify along with other businesses which are growing their earnings by around $75,000 per year. Additionally, they're being able to help their community by buying houses, as well as by assisting small-scale family enterprises as well as supporting family members.

But, well before their entry into the workforce and start their transition into work we witness the changes that occur as they grow and become people who aim to achieve greater than their peers who've had the chance to realize their ambitions and are confident that they can add value to the places that they step into. Everyday, they're immersed in their pursuits and strive to create change beyond the limits of Marcy and ultimately, the workplaces they work in. Through interactions with their instructors and their interactions working alongside their colleagues and colleagues, they are convinced that their abilities, knowledge and capabilities will enable them to take down the system that has led to inequity over the years Utilizing their experience and knowledge when it comes to implementing strategies for the benefit of society and also making changes in society.

SQSP: What is the role of technology to meet the objectives of Marcy Lab? Marcy Lab program and its Partners are specialists in the field of subject matter experts and also in managing the program?

ROOur technologically-focused curriculum's success is dependent on the close partnership we have with our colleagues on the side of employers for providing a continuous feedback loop regarding our fellows skills and their readiness for professional work. These areas of need for improvement must be addressed by our teachers directly in order to make sure that our curriculum is constantly evolving and enhancing to ensure they are able to keep up with the demands from employers as well as perform their duties.

The convergence of the curriculums for schools and student performance is resulting in more contracts for employment being signed with businesses who appreciate the possibilities that these nimble connections can result in higher or equal numbers of appointing employees. The highlights of the report include:

Direct collaboration in direct collaboration with established businesses to cut down the need for degrees for Software engineers. Similar to The New York Times and . The newspaper has also invited our Fellows, as well as some other notable individuals who don't fit into the typical.

The brand new Capstone program curriculum J.P. Morgan Chase Asset and Wealth Management and J.P. Morgan Chase Asset and Wealth Management that is the pioneer in the use of technology to backend the capstone course to meet the needs of their students and assist us to prepare our Fellows for the ever-growing use of data analysis.

SQSP What hopes do you feel about the future direction for Marcy Lab School?

ROWhat is causing me to be hopeful regarding the future of Marcy Lab and the potential of this field is the change occurring in the field of business. Companies have moved away from the necessity of qualifications to hiring through credentials. This opens up the possibility for businesses like Marcy Lab to even exist.

I've had the privilege of visiting some of the biggest employers within the United States such as IBM and Barclays along with other companies such as this which employ a lot of fresh professionals along with managerial positions at the mid and upper levels who have graduated from the Marcy Lab School, much as that of Stanford University. Stanford University pipeline that connects companies in and in and around that are located in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the process of acquiring knowledge and capabilities at the top companies I imagine students relocating to start their own companies and taking on debt through hiring teams with the same knowledge and experience as they gained from their previous employers.

It is crucial to remember that I view Marcy Lab to be a component of a larger fair-minded program that was specifically designed in order to help those who have made it through the schools of students of color to find careers which can end poverty less than a couple of generations.

SQSP: What can those who are keen on the Marcy Lab's work doing to become involved?
