Installation and painting - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Nicole Mueller is an artist from San Francisco. Her works include large-scale painting as well as murals and installations which mimic the effect from stained glass. Inspiring by the process, her abstract works are vibrant and saturated. They are constructed with layers of collage-like shapes. Her work explores the complexities of colors, states in flux, dichotomies inside painting, the transitional nature of being, and the threshold between outside and inside, the tangible and intangible.
My background
I'm mostly a painter who is a full-time an artist in San Francisco, California.
My background also includes mural painting, installation work, as well as doing arts administration and career advancement.
I was a student in MICA. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) located in Baltimore in Maryland, where I resided for many years before making the move into on the West coast.

Another big part of my mission and work revolves around hosting Beyond the Studio with fellow artist Amanda Adams, a podcast that aims to increase visibility in the world of art through interviews with other contemporary artists on their careers paths.
My fashion
My work is mostly unintentional and driven by processes. It is abstract, highly saturated, built with color and layers of collage-like forms.
I paint large-scale and light-activated windows which mimic the effect of stained glass and murals. Through this series I'm exploring dichotomies and state of flux and the boundary between interior and exterior, the tangible and the intangible.

What is the secret to creating my work
I believe that showing up consistently for your work is key--for me making a habit of studio work as well as setting goals for myself to continue moving forward helped me prioritize my tasks when life gets in the way, as well as taking the time to slow down and take a break or rest (for a day, a month, or more).
