Illustrations that incorporate movement and space The CreativeMindClass Blog
From the time I was a kid I've been drawn to paint and use my hands. It was and always has been the easiest way to express myself. Growing in Taiwan, pursuing an artistic career was thought of as a negative thing and often advised by parents to take classes in the more practical aspects of art otherwise I'd end up starving on the streets.
It is a blessing that my mom was always encouraging me to do whatever I wanted to do and was willing to do everything that she could to help me achieve my goals. When I returned to the United States and graduating high school, I realized that I wanted to make art a career.

I was accepted to ArtCenter College of design, where I studied Illustration, with the goal of moving into the feature animation field. But along the way, I came across motion graphics and fell in love with their versatility as well as all the amazing work that is done by those I admiration.

How would you describe your personal style?
I am still on the journey to finding a fashion that I'm able to call my personal. I have the tendency to want to try new things every so often... One month I'll feel like doing very colorful things, soon I'll explore organic colors. be really into a shape driving style for a while but then one day I'll become bored and would like to experiment with something that's more based on forms.

In other instances, I'll blend two different things that are intriguing to me, to make it seem like I'm in a never-ending journey to explore and gain knowledge. However, after experimenting a at times I'm starting to realize that there are certain designs, colours, or compositions that I am drawn to. Perhaps this is the start of a design style?

It's one of the reasons I enjoy working for Oddfellows and sometimes, I can't believe I am fortunate enough to be working with a team of insanely talented people. At work we often have to adapt to different styles depending on the project. virtually every project has to be completed with different ways as well as I'm getting new knowledge from my coworkers every day.

What's the secret to creating your illustration?
I like to make drawings of subjects I am curious or interested in. I then attempt to give my own spin to it.
But most importantly I like to have fun. I think having fun is essential to creating something, viewers can really tell that a creator was having fun making things... the extra sparkle.

As I was battling the epidemic, and seeing my colleagues and our studio trying their best in helping the community, I was inspired to launch a Patreon dubbed Joy&Frens, where 50% of the earnings go to the charities that my patrons choose. Here, I provide Tips & Tricks, process videos, and invite my friends to collaborations and share their wisdom.
My work is also displayed on Instagram and on my web site.
