This is our first conversation with Canadian illustrator designer, artist educator, designer, and artist Maia Faddoul. Maia is a first-generation Canadian artist, based at her Montreal studio. My style of design is "High Contrast'.
My style is bright, high-contrast and bold. Usually, it has a some subtle message of social justice hidden in the background. I'm a huge fan of color and also a hugeist with my art style.
What's the secret to creating your illustration?
One of the most important elements of my work is making work that speaks to my values and beliefs. My personality isn't the most passionate or loud, so often use art as a way to communicate my thoughts or share my opinions, discuss injustices, and raise awareness about issues that matter to me.
