How Stellantis is powering limitless learning

With a global workforce over 300,000. Stellantis is the manufacturer of brands like Peugeot, Fiat, and Chrysler recognizes the importance of scaling, well, just about everything. "We have been ranked among the top five automotive makers in the world," states Phil Price, Head of The Performance Academy, Stellantis. "As the learning and development sphere grew, we very quickly realized that it's really focused on what we could provide our workforce to improve efficiency." And so, The Performance Academy was established.

In the capital city of cars of England, the folks at The Performance Academy produce thousands of hours of content for training to Stellantis employees. But to keep up with their ever-growing employee base they required a repeatable system to communicate details with employees across the world. "We've been spending a lot of time analyzing what people are looking for in their learning," says Phil. "Video-based instructional technology is the way to go."

A member of the community for more than an decade, the group has always recognized the importance of video. To that end, Stellantis has changed their strategy on in-person training to an entirely online approach. "With in-person training the requirement is to duplicate it 10 times with the expense of 10 different costs," he says. "With video, you can scale it to unlimited possibilities."

Unrestricted learning

"We have on average, about 350 hours worth of assets available in a weekly period," notes Phil. "Behind those 350 hours, we've probably have tens of thousands of hours of content we've created and refined in the past 12 years."

This catalog of content allows employees to be trained when and where is best for them. "Our training is available 24/7," he adds. "That's important, because there are people taking this on their own terms, because they know it's going to increase their personal performance."

Powerhouse productions

The Performance Academy is now The Performance Academy is expanding to live streaming on a daily basis that range from sales seminars to board-level communication. To pull it off, The Performance Academy has continued to invest in its production team which is a miniature Hollywood studio located in the middle of Coventry, England.

"Look at where we are right now," says Phil. "We're within our own studio. We have the ability to generate an overlay animation, perform any task we'd like to. Everything you see in a movie, is now possible to do with The Performance Academy."

Partners for growth

With the latest production tools and a crack group of L&D experts, The Performance Academy uses to produce, host and share their works. "As the learning and development sector has grown, it continues to improve the methods of delivery, model, and reporting," says Phil. "We've been able to gain from it."

"It's testimony to the scalability, right partners, right team members, and the right vision for how the future holds."
