Honoring History, Empowering Progression: International Women's Day 2024

Mar 20, 2024

Every year on the 8th of March everyone gathers to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD). It's a time to celebrate the achievements of women, consider their struggles as well as recommit to ensure that equality reigns. In looking back, we realize that it was not something that took place in a single day. It's the culmination of years of struggle, perseverance and unwavering dedication. This is the day we celebrate the day by inviting all to come along for an educational tour through the past and culture of IWD, a testament to the effectiveness of our collective action.

Starting with Seeds of Change to a Global Movement

The seeds of IWD began to grow in the early 20th century. It was at this time that women's equality gained off. On the 8th of March in 1857, an entire group of women marched on the streets to protest against poor working conditions of the workers, along with the non-existent rights for women in their industries of textiles. They demanded the reduction of working hours as well as fair and reasonable living wages. Then, a few years later, on the 8th of March the march of women employed in trades in needles was organized to protest child labor, sweatshop conditions of work, and to demand that women be able to vote. A year later, in 1910, the 8th day of March was declared an official day to be celebrated to be International Women's Day.

Change is a catalyst

It was a time in which IWD was an influential force for transformation. It was a forum where women could express their opinions on topics including voting rights, fair working conditions, fair pay, as well as the right to receive education. In 1975 IWD was acknowledged in 1975 through The United Nations officially recognized IWD, solidifying its global significance.

A Day of Celebration and Action

Today, IWD is celebrated in various ways, from spectacular events to private gatherings. It's a time to celebrate the women who have left an impact in all fields including musicians and scientists to activists and entrepreneurs. But, IWD isn't only about the celebration of women, but also the chance to act. It emphasizes that the battle for gender equality is on the verge of getting completed. It is essential to guarantee equality of opportunities, fight the negative stigmas that surround us and support all women and girls. The main theme of International Women's Day 2024 is " Invest in Women and Accelerating the rate of change" using the internationally popular hashtag #InvestInWomen..

In accordance with UN UN UN UN the UN, these five categories are vital to the advancement of this hashtag until it is no longer needed:
