Oct 13, 2022

There's a good chance that you've encountered someone who was unable to finish a project because they thought that every part must be flawless. But, perfection doesn't exist (truly). As a result, your work is left to sit unfinished either on their laptop or their studio. It is possible that some would consider the time invested wasted since there is no way to enjoy what the creator produced.

Perfectionism can be a major blocker for creators and entrepreneurs. Based on a study by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, perfectionism is associated with "feelings of failure, guilt and indecision, as well as procrastination, shame, and low self-esteem." In the end, people struggle to get ahead with their job or undertaking - which is known as perfectionism paralysis.
However, how can you conquer it?

Letting go of perfectionism and recalibrating to a more actual standard of what can be shared is challenging. For help with this We invited two experienced experts to share their experience of overcoming the fear of perfection during a virtual summit that took place in August 2022. The session can be viewed here:

What are your strategies to overcome perfectionism?

Digital items don't need be flawless, but they do require a certain level of quality for them to make a profit. What can an artist do to set their standards to a standard of excellence that's suitable for their business and their brand?

Grace declares:

"Consider whether it reflects the quality of your content and information you're likely to release? Does it convey a convincing narrative about the value you've got to offer? Then, of course you need to ensure that you're doing a copy edit, that you have high-quality audio and video. Everything that is likely to help make the user experience as high quality as possible.

It's more important than anything else, go for it. There is no need for an expensive production team in order to produce an excellent video. It's possible to shoot something great on your iPhone. Be sure to ensure that you don't have any background noise and that the audio quality is high.

What is the first thing a knowledgeable creator could do to assist them in creating their first digital product?

Steve says:

"I find that a lot of entrepreneurs are caught up in the messaging, but they're not looking at the market. It is important to ask yourself: is there a market for my message? How do you identify if there's any market to your message?

It's quite simple to you can ask questions about:

  1. What's the problem which my voice or enthusiasm can address?
  2. Who's the cause and needs this solution?
  3. What are the folks you're called to serve?
  4. What are the best ways to discover these?
  5. How will they locate you?
  6. How much money are they able to spend?
  7. What is the reason anyone should choose you over all the options that are out there?
