Five reasons to join our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leadership --

Mar 23, 2022

The short version of this article is this:

  • We have just launched a brand newly-created (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • The program is open to the leaders of established SaaS and software companies (including founders! ).

The reason we're launching a no-cost Slack group

Because communities are awesome!

No, seriously.

There are many others SaaS and software communities out in the world. Some of them are excellent.

When we began to think about making the type of community wouldlike to be a member of, we realized that there was the opportunity to make something new.

For that reason, we came up with Global SaaS Leaders as a space with five unique qualities:

1. Global Focus

We found many SaaS and software-based communities which were U.S.-based or focused around a specific location.

Global SaaS Leaders will be distinct. could be in the U.S., but our customers as well as the broader SaaS community are spread throughout the world..

When we build the community, we'll become intentional about developing a diverse member base and global view.

2. Created for the top executives from long-standing SaaS and software firms

The most interesting software conversations we found online revolved around beginning the first SaaS company.

These conversations are useful for anyone trying to get started building an SaaS.

In the end, we discovered that it's extremely difficult to find useful discussions between the leaders of well-established software and SaaS companies.

This is why we've decided to create a community for SaaS leaders thinking about growing and scaling up an already established software company and not focusing on building minimally feasible products or seeking seed funding.

If you're a life-long entrepreneur that has a self-funded SaaS already doing $10,000 a month, we'd like to connect you with other entrepreneurs similar to you.

The same applies if you're the development director at a venture-backed company that recently crossed the $10 million mark annually.

That will be our focus on the upcoming Global SaaS Leaders: to create a space that you can share your thoughts on the unique challenges that happen when you achieve product-market fit and start to expand.

3. Professionally moderated

It takes a dedicated and talented moderator (or team of moderators!) to establish a positive and friendly culture in a group.

There's a lot we've learned from the Reddit community r/entrepreneur, for instance.

However, even communities with high-quality amenities like this struggle at times with focus. It's telling that the No. 1 thread this year is an angry post on how the rise of cryptocurrency has dominated the newsfeed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this article!) is the initial moderation team as we launch the Global SaaS Leaders community.

Together, we have over an entire decade of in the field of moderating online communities, with thousands of members.

Furthermore, creating and launching this community is part of the job description.

Our focus will be on SaaS as well as software and we'll ensure that you won't have to deal with spam, unsolicited offers and personal attacks. trolling of any sort.

4. It is not specifically focused on funding or venture capital rounds

It doesn't matter if you're bootstrapped, venture-funded, private-equity backed, or any other type of ownership.

The world's SaaS Leaders won't be a event that is primarily focused on exit or funding strategies.

We hope instead to create a place to have discussions regarding hiring, revenue profits, tools, pricing models, technical infrastructure and everything other that can contribute to the growth of a successful software business.

It's fine if members occasionally talk about financing. It shouldn't be the only debate.

5. The most supportive SaaS Software community on the web

Some online communities are unsafe places.

Whatever you're looking for, where you're from and what your background, we want you to feel at ease posting and interacting in our community.

Katie and I will do everything that we can to foster a supportive and positive society in this brand new one. And we won't tolerate the personal attack, bigotry discrimination based on gender, race, or any other disrespectful behaviour.

Our target is no anything less than to build the most helpful SaaS and software-based community on the internet.

How can you join the Global SaaS Leaders Community
