Fantasy illustration The CreativeMindClass Blog

How would you describe the style you prefer?

It's somewhere between stylized and realistic fantasy illustration. I use a lot of muted and aquatic color palettes and generally work with natural, fluid shapes. I think my "style" as a fantasy illustration artist is heavily dictated by my colors and the subject matter I actually choose to paint however, not what it is painted. I was previously working in a much more line-oriented style , but recently I've been transitioning into a looser and more painterly style.

What are the most important factors for creating artworks of fantasy?

Sweating over them until it appears to be closest to what I see it in my head (within reasons, else I'd be able to spend months working on one painting). I try really hard to challenge my ideas to the limit and never settle for just a poor picture. I'd rather spend a lot of time trying to get my fantasy illustration right rather than rush the process.

What are the best places to show your fantasies?

I'll be a part of the coming "Oceans and Currents" show at Gallery Nucleus on July 1st! For now I'm on Instagram. There are prints available through my store Bandcamp for those who are interested!

And I also have a YouTube and Bandcamp for people who want to know more about my music since I'll be releasing new songs shortly.

The Background of Brigitte

I received my degree in the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I currently work in the field of entertainment art as a concept artist and illustrator. Also, I have a ongoing artistic project, named Pearl Farm in which I draw illustrations. I also write as well as perform original songs.

The article illustrations are of my own project Pearl Farm. It's my original story and follows a travelling troubadour called Vinny as well as her pet Ray Hubble while they travel their way across the globe known as The Lofty Coastline.
