Do we have ways to allow AI to harness the human creativity? Views from film makers and his Vice-President of Creative

Sep 17, 2023

It is a fact that AI is not going away.

There is a debate ongoing about whether AI will become editors, writers or concepts art directors. A majority of people are convinced that AI is an intrinsic nature and considering the possibility of it transforming the way work is being completed. At Cannes I heard the perspectives of creatives like will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame discuss the way in which AI will change the way we live within the next 10 years. A large portion of the conversation was focused on the ways in which AI will quickly unlock the creative potential of people and their impact on creativity processes.

Being a creative director for a number of years, I was looking for a way to share my ideas and use this opportunity to start an open dialogue with the people of our community.

What's the present situation? And what are we able to do to improve our situation to the next time around?

Here's what AI could accomplish in the near future.

"I used to be a magician prior to when I started my film career. Pretty quickly, when you're a magician, realize that the latest technology isn't able to be distinguished from the magic. The technology can even make you feel frightened in the event you aren't aware of what it does or how to use how it works. Like the way I feel about AI for creators or a person who's making money from projecting something on your mind on the screen, or even onto the monitor, AI is a scary element because it could take over your job." Ben Proudfoot, Oscar-winning short document directories Found and CEO of Breakwater Studios

Creativity is an important human quality, the only one AI cannot duplicate easily.
The midjourney system was first introduced on July 20, 2022. ChatGPT began operations on the 1st November that same year. The past few years, we've seen self-described "non-creatives" discover the strength of their creativity, but it is largely not possible due to gaps in skills.

The result of these efforts are fantastic and the tools are being developed at such speed that you'd completely forgotten that the tools just one year were. the old.

AI helps you convey concepts

The concepts of nuanced pictures and narratives, as well as music, are hampered by the necessary methods and abilities required to put those concepts into practice.

In the recent year, images like this are possible to produce with a couple of keystrokes

The midjourney 5.2 is now the standard for AI images.

In less than 48 hours from the time it is already apparent that the people have pushed their limits.

We know this in the present:

If you're a known creator like the Oscar winning filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili the chance is higher.

Think about his mostly artificially-generated short film " Last Stand," which depicts how humanity might react if extraterrestrials came into contact.

"Last Stand | Sci-Fi Short Film created by using Artificial Intelligence."

by @HashemGhaili

"Disclaimed It's true that none of this is real. The movie was created mostly by Al and his team, who was in charge of writing the script making conceptual art, as well as generating all the voices.

"AI will require us consider questions in ways you've not even considered," says Crystal Edmonds the Director of Accounts as well as events Activation for Magnet Media Films. "I think it's going to expand our thinking. AI will help us discover new things we've never believed we would want to know about. I believe you'll be amazed at how people can to reach a completely new level of creativity by using AI."

Take a look at, for instance, Staff Pick winner Paul Trillo's short film "Thank You for Not Answering."

Instead of trying to achieve authenticity, Runway focuses his attention on the dreamy style that's inherent within Runway's Gen-2. "As one who's sending a message to someone that has lived before, the message is a collage of his fading memory and imagines the possibility of a new existence."

An artist who has adapted according to his limitations, and advantages of his medium, and result in something that is unique.

AI can help you validate your ideas and help you to market your ideas.

The examples below show the various ways AI can be used to express the artistic view, AI for commercial use is still a relatively new idea.

Look at this artificially-generated beer commercial. The commercial dates in the past and isn't able to be considered an authentic advertisement if it was seen as genuine advertising.

It provides enough detail for executives to communicate more effectively than any mood board sketch or elevator pitch ever could.

In the age of generative AI, there is no need to rely on words to create an image for over 10 people. Instead, utilize the stimuli of a descriptive nature for the ideal sizzle film and animatics, or pre-visualizations that convince people to be convinced of the concept.

What does this mean for the creatives of today?

Learn to create an effective demand for AI.

"I think that the next generations of workers will be proficient in the technology accessible and soon begin making use of the generative AI in both written as well as in writing," says Orlando Baeza the chief marketing officer as well as Chief Revenue officer for Flock Freight. "I am actually convinced there is lots of opportunities to grow within the next few years but it's going to need to be re-trained by our existing staff prior to the time that our future generation of employees will be able to improve this process."

AI may reduce time for production

Today, films require on average of 2 to 3 weeks to create from start to finish. Yet, AI is speeding the process. It allows filmmakers to think more freely and allows production personnel more time to complete tasks that require precision.

"I think that one of the main challenges facing the film industry is the price of making films. This is a very high-cost way of making a film One of the most unique aspects about is that it democratizes filmmaking," continues Baeza. "So If AI and machine learning are instruments that can help someone with limited resources, achieve an audience that is large, then it's a great idea, isn't it?"

AI makes videos more effective to create thanks to automated processes, such as transcription editing, personalization and the process of planning. As an example, eliminating components from background videos has been laborious and time-consuming that does not need using the Generative Fill software.

"I believe that businesses will see AI as productivity and efficiency enhancements," says Baeza. "I believe AI will become a powerful partner and will likely be a part of innovative organizations."

Here's the thing AI cannot assist you with.

AI can't make you go viral

Machine learning is based on crunching previously-used data and recognizing the patterns of what it had previously digested. Like the previous example, an AI machine or artificially generative AI software might generate incredible images of a blue cup based on the countless images it has processed of blue cups.

It's not about repeating the same thing previously tried, but more of it is about putting the world with a fresh perspective and providing a different perspective on the old concepts or establishing a link nobody else has made. As Steve Jobs famously said:

"Some persons say they will give clients what they want however that's not how I'd go about it. Our job is to know what customers are likely to need prior to giving them. My opinion is this: Henry Ford once said, "If I had asked my customers what they were looking for I would have gotten the fastest horse. People don't know what they're searching at until you've demonstrated the item to them. It is our job to help translate things that aren't yet visible on a webpage." Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple

Creativity can be described as a combination of art and science and AI can be a major winner on the scientific aspect of the equation.

There are a few regular, reliable methods used in the field and which AI can replicate for example for example, the rule of threes, or employing an attractive red font to promote the sale. But, AI isn't able to see the future and discern the effects of virality or pinpoint the most innovative, new method that customers will love.

If you're an artist This is fantastic news. You can stand out by your creativity and make use of AI to assist in bringing your ideas to life.

AI is unable to duplicate the artistic process

One of the greatest positive outcomes of creativity regardless of the amount of detail your thought is, your concept transforms into a reality of the product of its creator when it's created. Anyone who is in touch with the concept will contribute their own ideas and perspectives on the concept The final item has a quality that could never have been even.

Film editor within the industry that I had collaborated with, I was told "You might have recorded your storyboard, however your storyboard doesn't have any value right now. We'll take advantage of the footage I already have." If everything was completed in accordance with the plan editors could draw attention to specific aspects or alter or alter the content in a manner which was different from the initial plan.

At the moment I am unable to think of the best way to make use of AI to duplicate the process of creative thinking employing this method.

AI isn't equipped with the artistic viewpoint it could bring into the workflow in the same way that editors or filmmakers would. Thus, even though AI is able to be employed throughout the creative process --for instance, helping speed in the process of brainstorming as well as editing humans remain a part of the process of creating its own.

Stay curious and keep your mind open

The bottom line is that AI increases our capacity to express our ideas, and also act as a catalyst that will allow an entire new generation of creators to come out and accomplish feats that they never thought of. If I could capture this moment in words I'd be thrilled and anxious unlike any other moment to capture a moment in time, it's time to look towards the future.

As a matter of fact, I'm an individual with a single thought, and perhaps a few opinions. It is important to continue exploring possibilities using a sense of curiosity as well as an open-minded mind. Also, take part in a discussion.

As of now I'm curious to find out where you are at now? What have you learned about AI currently, and in what direction you envision the future of AI?
