Digital illustration process - The CreativeMindClass Blog

When I'm free I enjoy doing 30-minute-hour studies or explorations where I do what I think I'm feeling that day. Doing this was a huge help in my development, however it also allowed me to discover the kinds of activities I was interested in.

Today, I am able to focus on the color of light and also how to describe textures in a simple way so that I do not have to be too detailed in everything. I usually draw my forms pretty close to real life However, as time goes on, I want to try to make shapes move further and be more stylized with my art.

If I begin a painting, usually I love laying out the basic shapes initially, either using BW or just straight with color. When I believe it's important, I start with linework initially. After I've established a good base I like to map on the light and shadow shapes on separate layers. It is not until that point do I create or render the image generally moving from large to tiny particulars.

In the Streets of London painting I used a similar process. In order to have neat edges and keep everything well-organized, I employed a large number of layers. Additionally, I had the primary light in an additional layer.

Using layers also makes me less worried about making mistakes. However, once I feel comfortable in the state of my painting, I begin to combine a couple of things, only keeping the things I consider necessary.

Colors to me are an "feel" thing, I go with those that feel right. Also, I have a number of reference sources that I look at to assist me in choosing the perfect colours. Sometimes I blend references but sometimes I just use one.

It's definitely a good idea to learn about the theory of light and colour, so you know what you can push to make the overall colour palette and values stronger.

It's hard to pinpoint what the most important thing I do to create my work... I simply like exploring diverse styles, techniques, and subjects and am in the spirit of other artists.

I'm still so early in my journey as an artist and is still trying to determine what I'm like as an artist, and what my style is. What's different nowadays is that I don't have to think about it as much I used to , and I'm sure that's making an enormous difference.

My Background

My name is Bjork and I'm a Visual artist. I'm currently working in the field of Concept Art for games.
