Colored Pencil Flowers - The CreativeMindClass Blog
If I were forced to pick a word to represent my style of drawing, it would be 'Spring'.
I'd like for people to view my illustrations and feel like they're blooming, just like warm spring blooming flowers.
Cottagecore is the lifestyle I prefer and cherish. It could be because I live in Seoul which is a large city, so I admire nature and the countryside much more than what I see every day.
Instead of expressing a sense of ferocity instead, I prefer to express a peaceful and tranquil mood, like what I observe in the natural world.
What's the secret to making your illustrations?
The first thing I'd like is to discuss the things that I find inspiring in. I focus on happiness in small items. The blooms I find in the garden, the whispers of flowers flying in the breeze, even a small blossom at the corner of the street that I walk by as I walk.
My work is mostly inspired by small wildflowers. Nature-inspired landscapes taken from ancient botanical encyclopedias as well as rural landscapes can also be a source of ideas. I have saved a great deal of material through photos and usually take notes of color pencil ideas.
Let's discuss the technique of work. I draw to the extent of large-scale details in the manner of real flowers , and convey my emotions through color.
I employ sharp colored pencils with pointed tips to draw the design that the flowers take. I then set a soft and warm atmosphere by using pastel tones rather than intense colors.
I like also to juxtapose simple and rough paper by using the technique of paper flowers in order to give an impression of blooming flowers.
Instead of drawing just for fun, I think crafting paper flowers creates a much greater sense of beauty. It's a more precise translation of my imagination.
My name's Yeo Jin, and I'm a colored pencil art illustrator and writer located in Seoul. My work is based on flowers as they always make me smile!
My publications include six color pencil-related tutorials. I've also worked with companies to create illustrations. I currently give lectures to students of drawing and make products I sell in online stores and local boutiques.
I have my colorful pencil art through Instagram as well as on my website.
I'd like introduce my YouTube channel. My vlogs focus on travel but also have numerous travel sketches and inspirations (mostly colored pencil art) that I draw during my adventures.
