Art collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog
In the afternoon of Sunday, I was able to catch Olga sharing Instagram posts about my hometown from my youth. In Warsaw's urban jungle is an undiscovered, revered green zone. I would visit it in summer time to gaze at the beautiful pine trees and breathe in the fresh air of the natural world inside my urban lung. In her story, Olga visited this area in her first visit, but she was also fascinated by one of the oldest backyards of Warsaw. It is my bet she will create a Boernerowo inspired painting.
We talked to Olga what she uses as the basis for creating her minimalist collages and painting of landscapes that are human-shaped.
"My Name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. From the time I was a kid, I've been drawing and painting a lot. I went to an art school in high school. I also took classes in Painting and Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.
I'm a painter, illustrator, and sometimes a graphic designer. In my practice, I concentrate on the connection between humankind and nature by closely observing how we shape the natural world around us. Through observing trimmed hedges or decorative plants as well as meticulously designed home gardens I'm capturing the mysterious environment that surrounds us."
"For many years, I've also been creating minimalist collages. The collages are inspired by landscapes, still lifeor developed as a result from experiments with shapes, textures as well as colours.
My style is heterogeneous as collage and painting differ in many ways, however they do have something in common: they soothe. I have heard this term from my audience many times and believe that is the best description of my art. If I am tired of drawing, I do collages. The reverse is also true. The one style serves as an escape from the different.
I think observation is key. I carefully observe everything around me: nature, architecture, and objects. All this is reflected in my art. My artworks do not see a person, but you get the feeling of human presence in trimmed hedges or in a cup left on the table."
